Part One
Adde Adesokan: The Grieving Sailor
1. The character is a tough looking man with tattoos, sunglasses, and big rings.
2. He is thinking he needs to put on a strong facade, despite what he is actually feeling to keep his image
3. He are feeling confident, strong, and relaxed because he doesn't have a tense look to his face or body language.
4. Since the background is blurred out, it is difficult to determine the setting but he seems to be on a street, which can correlate to his toughness since he is not in a coffee shop or a school, but out in the world.
5. The man is just standing in the middle of the street.
6. Considering the title of the photograph, "The Grieving Sailor," the story shows a man who has been through a lot and his way of dealing with it is to be strong and not get hurt again.

Part One
Vietnam Vets at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne
1. Several Veterans gather together in Australia to ride their motorcycles in honor of themselves and their fellow veterans.
2. The first photograph of the building establishes the setting of the story, which is at a war memorial. The next photograph of the motorcycles demonstrates what they are doing there, which is riding together in unity. The two portraits on the bottom establish what type of people gathered at the memorial, which are two older men wearing leather and helmets. The last photograph is an up close look at their medals clarifying that they are war veterans.

Activity Four
Part One
1. This little boy lost his grandfather and he is watching his soul leave and go to heaven.
2. I think the amount of photographs in this series is appropriate because it captures each important detail from the story such as the grandfather lying down, him slowly getting up and growing his wings preparing to leave, him saying his final goodbyes to his grandchild, him going out the window, and finally the grandson waving goodbye out the window.
3. If I had to remove one photograph in this series it would be the second one. Even though it captures his wings well, the third photograph does that as well so it seems like the second is the least important when telling the story.
4. I chose this photograph because death can be hard to deal with but this photographer demonstrated it in a way where it shows that the person leaving us will be okay and they are going to a better place.

Activity Five
Part One: The Gallery
Part Two: My Story
Part Three: Editor's Story
Part Four: Assessment
1. What was your idea for this story?
- I wanted to portray the hard work that students put into their school work as Midterms are approaching.
- The editor chose two of the same pictures that I did. The editor seemed to have had the same idea as me because each photo demonstrates isolation, focus, and avoiding all distractions. She chose the last one to be different to probably show a sense of finding a quiet place to study rather than getting hands-on experience.
- The editor kept my photos relatively the same. Instead of a concentrated look I put on mine, she kept them light and innocent.
- I couldn't really tell that they enhanced the photos that much, but I like the pictures that they pulled from my gallery of ten.
- It is interesting to see somebody else's take on your idea, however, I prefer choosing and editing my own photos because everybody has a different opinion on what looks good to them. Photography should be about expression and what could be ugly to someone, could be beautiful to someone else and what could be boring to someone, could be the most fascinating thing in the world to another person.
- I felt as though out of the ten images I took, these photographs best capture the idea of studying and working productively. It shows the girl spending her time in the library, in an empty hallway to avoid distractions, and in the classroom examining the human anatomy. She is shown doing all of these actions rather than spending her time with her friends and on her phone. I used a darker editing style so that the viewer would focus on what the subject is doing and how it is suppose to show focus rather than bright distracting colors demonstrating fun and slacking off.
Part Five: Maddie Medwid's Ten
Part Six: Me as an Editor
Part Seven: My Interpretation
When looking at all of these photos, it seems that the story behind the gallery is sadness and appreciative. All of these photographs show this girl at different spots around the school that are special, particularly to a senior. I chose these photographs because the first one shows the girl looking at old photographs, demonstrating looking back at her time spent in Georgetown. The second photo shows the girl with her soccer jacket on looking out the window at the soccer field, as she has retired her cleats and is sad but half smiling because she is thankful for the time spent there. The last one is spending time in the cafeteria while at the same time looking on her phone with a glum look on her face, trying to soak up the last bit of high school she has left.
